    1. It just seems that way because they show more tournaments on TV that are being held in US. Why? Because they can get more money in the states than in UK/Europe. The biggest poker events are all held in US and in order for foreigners to come and play would be very troublesome. Thus you have majority of the players that are Americans and the chances of a foreigner making to the final table is much less than an American making it. Thus creating an illusion that American players are better than UK/Europeans.

      For the same reason if you look at the European/Australian poker tournaments, you won’t find many Americans. This is not because of their playing level, its just how media works.

    2. Well first off, America has more people than the UK or any one country in Europe. Then consider that Poker is pretty much an American invention, at least in the form that it is in today.

      Despite America’s draconian gambling restrictions, poker has long been an American pass time, enjoyed at kitchen tables all across America for decades.

      So there are plenty of top American players out there. But there are also plenty of non-American born players out there too. So I’d hardly say that America was in a league of their own.
